Wimbledon returns in 2021 with set start date of June 28th
The third Grand Slam in tennis of 2021 is set to start on June 28th 2021, one week after COVID restrictions are due to expire in England, the Wimbledon Championships are set to go ahead with a reduced capacity crowd.
After being canceled last year, Wimbledon organizers have not yet determined the number of tickets that will be made available for spectators, stating “in order to welcome the maximum number of guests, and manage our ticket distribution accordingly.” This could be the last time to see Roger Federer at Wimbledon, as the Men’s Entry list includes the return of Nick Kyrgios, Novak Djokovic, and twenty-time professional tennis Grand Slam title winner Rafael Nadal also generating excitement among tennis fans.
The Women’s Entry List is also heating up with Ashleigh Barty, Naomi Osaka and Simona Halep expected to stand out and fan-favorite Serena Williams also competing to win her 24th career Grand Slam title, to reach the record set by Billie Jean King.
ESPN will provide complete Wimbledon 2021 TV coverage, with the Tennis Channel also providing coverage of the only Grand Slam contested on grass. Streaming services like Fubo and Sling TV are also allowing viewers to opt-in to Wimbledon 2021 coverage.
