The 105th Indianapolis 500 is scheduled to be held on Sunday, May 30th in 2021, after the self-promoted “Greatest Spectacle in Racing” was postponed from May 24th to August 23rd last year, due to the global pandemic caused by COVID-19.
Unlike last year’s Indy 500, which ultimately was held without spectators in the stands, this year’s race is currently expected to be at 40% capacity, tentatively topping out at 135,000 spectators in attendance. Only 33 cars are permitted on the starting grid at the Indy 500, with 34 entries confirmed and at least 2 more entries also expected to confirm, eliminations are expected at Indy 500 Qualifying in 2021, to determine who races and their starting pole positions.
Tune in to the 105th Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 30 for live coverage on NBC starting at 11:00 a.m. ET from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
