27th Annual Critic’s Choice Awards

2022 Critic's Choice Awards | March 13, 2022

With NBC dropping the Golden Globes in 2022, due to criticisms of an alleged lack of diverse voices leveled at the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and questions concerning the group’s voting practices, the Critic’s Choice Awards were perfectly positioned to kick off the Awards season in 2022. The CCAs have since been rescheduled to March 13, 2022 due to concerns of a resurgent pandemic.

Presented by the Critic’s Choice Association, the largest critic’s organization in the U.S. and Canada, the CCA has released its list of television nominees for 2022 on December 6th. HBO’s “Succession” scored the most nominations with eight, “Evil” from Paramount+ and HBO’s “Mare of Easttown” both came in second with five nominations each. “Only Murders in the Building”, “Ted Lasso”, “The Good Fight”, “This Is Us”, and “Wandavision” received four nominations each. The film category nominations were released on December 13th, and Kenneth Branagh’s “Belfast” and Steven Spielberg’s “West Side Story” each picked up 11 nominations, edging out both “Dune” and “The Power of the Dog” which received ten nominations each. Trailing closely behind with eight nominations apiece were “Licorice Pizza” and “Nightmare Alley,” followed by “King Richard” and “Don’t Look Up,” who earned a respectable six nominations each.

The 2022 Critics’ Choice Awards gala set to be hosted by Taye Diggs and Nicole Byeron, broadcasting on CW and TBS on March 13th. Please see the full list of the 2022 Critic’s Choice nominees below.
